Badanavalu) inviting you to the Temple. From there its only a 5Km drive which takes you to the Huchhu Venugopalaswamy
Temple.
Hemmaragala
a village of 5500 Population comprises people of different castes and creed.
The Miracle Temple of Sri Santana Venugopaala is in the center part of the
village surrounded by all the Castes existing in the village. As a back bone
Dalits colony, to the left Lingaayath and Kurubas colony, to the right Uppaara
Colony and in the infront comes the Vaishnavas Colony.
All These
communities have come following their own Spirituals systematically through the
years, without affecting the harmony. Most of them are depending mainly on
Agriculture, animal husbandry and small Scale industries run by Stree Shakti
Sangha , and Small Scale business. With all these above features Hemmaragala has also come up Politically, Economically,
Educationally foreward, so it stands unique in whole Nanjangud taluk, now a
days its in the limelight for its Miracle happening with Clear evidences.
Origin of Hemmaragala – as a Name
There is No perfect evidence for the existence of the name
Hemmaragala, but there are ancient stories for the name to exist.
1. Once upon a
time this region ruled by a feudal lord by name Bheemappanaika. He had 16 Daughters and wished for a male child
but his wife delivered again a female. So she prayed Sri Venugopaala swamy and left of the baby
infront of the god. By the time
Bheemappanaika came to temple the child had turned in to male. The face facing towards became Hedathale and
the legs towards became Hemmaragala( Heamapuri).
2. Once
Koundinya Maharshi visited to Hemapuri village which was almost a lake. He closes this place for meditation and
blessed the place to grow and develop like the
Trees surrounding the lake which was huge in size. So the name as Hemmaragala.( Hemmara means big Tree
in vernacular language.)
3. Once a Demon
existed in this village, he was Killed by a saint and his head was parted from his body . The Place where the
head was fallen called as Headathale and
the place where body was fallen is known
Hemapuri and it became as Hemmaragala.
4. Once a man
eating demon existed in this place , he was a threat to the people. So he was killed by an ash grey colored person
(Shiva). His head was kept in the place,
which is now called as Headathale and the leg were thrown to the place which is called as Hemmaragala.
Like this
there are many stories giving evidence to origin of name Hemmaragala. As Sri Venugopalaswamy was statued by Sri
Koundinya Maharshi, it is Also called as “Koundinya Maharshi Kshetra ”.
Holycows
( Kaamadhenu) are there on either sides of Sri Venugopala, with Adishesha on
head, hence it is also called by the name of “Govardhana Kshetra”.
With
all these above epical evidence we can get the origin of the name of
Hemmaragala. In Chola’s rule the place were having the names with ‘Kala’ as
suffreixes. During these period there were many big trees in this place, so, we
can also conclude that during Chola’s rule the name Hemmaragala might have
origined.
Sri Venugopalaswamy
Temple
This Temple stands as the historical and cultural
of Hemmaragala. The temple was built in 13th century . Ganga’s were ruling this land during that period. Once,
the ruler got a dream in which Venugopalaswamy appeared and told the ruler that
he would give his “Darshana ” ( come in sight) in the Kalyaani where Koundinya
Maharshi Bathed, and told to the build his Temple where is chariot breaks down
after returning from your victory. Like this the lord Venugopalaswamy was
statured in Hemmaragala for the welfare of mankind.
This
mankind later came into the rule of Hoysalas after Gangas. The third rulers of
Hoysala Veeraballaala were the commander of this region . Bheemappanaika, Manchedanayaka and Perumaladevanatyaka were
the subsidiary ruler of Hoysala. They were responsible to conduct daily rituals
of the lord. For this in 1298 A.D. they donated their land for the construction
of the temple.
The
Chola King who one ruled this region had
12 Female children and wished for a male child in the lord Venugopala then the lord appeared in the dream of king.
The next day queen again gives birth to baby girl. This makes the king very
angry and he criticizes the queen badly , bitterly moved by this the queen
promises infront of the god to commit suicide if the baby girl born would not
turn into boy the next day.
As
a miracle the next day in the brahmi lagnam the child turns into male.
Witnessing this the queen with love and devotion calls the god “Huchhu Gopala”.
For this as thanks giving the Chola Maharaja ( King)made the stone floaring to
the Kalyaani.
It
is said that Huchhu Gopala is the folk pronounciation of “Utsaca Gopala” .
The King of Yaduvamsha of Mysore,
Sri Kantirava Narasimha Raja Wodeyar, who need a male child for his succession
prayed here in front of the lord and had a male birth. Rejoicing this he named
his son after the lords name as Sri Mummadi Krishna Raja Wodeyar. This
Shows the lords divinity everywhere.
When
Sri mummadi KrishnaRaja Wodeyar came into power, he came to the holy place in
1810 and had the darshana of lard , he took the utsava murthy ( movable Idol)
to the Mysore Palace.
Even today we can his statue in the temple . for the daily rituals and
ceremonical processions Sri Mummadi Krishna Raja Wodeyar has donated 150 acres
of land to the Temple.
For childbirth devotees tie lemon and cradle
in the temple to provoke and get the blessings of god. This practice can be
seen today also. The unmarried and the troubled once pray lord to come out of
it.
The
temple is east facing. It starts with main entrance from there we come across
the Bali pita of the lord. From here we can
see the Main Mantapa. After having done the holy rounds around the Mantapa, to
the left is Thulasi Brindavan, holy well pond and stone floaring, then when
temple is entered we can see the marriage hall. When further moved from left we
can see Rukmini Amma. From Right we can see Satyabhaama Amma. After that we can
enter the octagonal Shaped mantapa. There we can see Sridevi and Bhudevi the
processional idols. To the right we see Nammalwar, to the left Vedanta Deshikara Ramanujacharya and Adishesha.
When moved further we see small
Yoganarasimha sitting on the entrance of Varadarajaswamy dressed with Saligrama Necklace.
After
Sukanasi then we get the heart place of the god ( Garbhagudi ). There we see
the young lord Krishna playing flute standing
on left leg and the right leg crossed. This beauty cannot be described with
words , it can only be enjoyed by seeing
it. The leg are such that it can free us from any problem only by its darshan.
The moon like face, the gem studded waist lace, flute incute hands, eyes filled
with love and kindness, lovely lips, crown studded with diamonds and gems and
many which cannot be expressed in words. Its true that one feels to hug the
divine idol once at least. One who fills this lonely lord Krishna
in his eyes is the luckiest.
Any
Rationalist becomes poet and Start praising lord immensely when the lords
darshana is made.
Every
year The Krishnotsava is being celebrated in the month of September.
Miracles of the Lord Huchhu
Gopala :
1 : Making the curse
Hoax : Alamelamma cursed and made Talakad a Sand filled land, Malangi a
water filled Place completely and the Royal Mysore family as a childless. The
made Sri Krishnaraja Wodeyar to Suffer a lot without children. At last king surrended
himself in the lord and in return he got a male child . like this sri
Venugopalaswamy made the Alamelamma’s
curse a hoax.

parents and the surrounding crowds. The

lord temple with child body. This was pathetic. Sight to every one there. Then the miracle happened the baby smiled as
if its teasing somebody and stood up later. This child still there in the
village. One can talk to it if interested, this was also telecasted in a T V programme recently.
6 : The Powerful Divine Wand : This is
the wand, which is said that Koundinya Maharshi has transferred all his divine

Now

wished to see their baby once again. When they came to see surprising the
female child has turned into male child.
Even
today the childless couples come here and pray for children and the next season
itself they are blessed with child birth. This can be only said nothing a
miracle. The couples who all have been blessed with child births have registered
their name, address and telephone no. in the temple. The blessed couple’s
number exceeds more than 2500.
8 : Shocking result to the Medical Field : The priest of the lord Krishna in the temple
was examined with blood cancer and the doctor had certified that the priest has
no chance to live except death within few years. The depressed priest who came
back home just engaged himself with his family to serve and worship lord Krishna.
Once,
the same doctor met the priest and took him to the hospital to check his health
condition , as a shock to the medical field itself, the priest blood cancer was
completely cured . he was totally healthy.
